Our Story …

We are really pleased to announce that we're taking part in Shitbox Rally Autumn 2024! This year, all the teams are driving their shitboxes from Adelaide to Perth.

Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for Cancer Council in Australia and is now in its 14th year. Part of the participation is that all teams have to raise a minimum of $5,000 but most teams raise well above this amount as you can see with the Autumn 2024 rally target set at $2,000,000 plus.

These funds go to Cancer Council and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity. The fundraising is the hard part, so any donation you can give is greatly appreciated. Please make sure to follow our progress via this page and the blog post below.

Here's what I'm doing …

Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,500, on a 7 day drive across Australia to raise money for cancer research.

The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.

Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.

Thanks John / Norel We really appreciate your donation this is our fourth rally and fundraising never gets easier. I started entering this event after Tony had passed away. Shitbox has had some amazing impacts over the years, they have a big say on where the money is allocated to different studies. Also, for us it's great fun and you get to meet some likeminded good people on the rally as well as see parts of Australia that you normally wouldn't see. Not Sure how Toni is going to go with the dust and a week in a swag, but time will tell, I guess. Thank again J

Hi Helen, Thanks "again" for your support we really appreciate it. After four times doing this, it gets harder to ask for money from friends for us to go away really. But it's way more than that, Shitbox has a real impact on where the money is allocated for grants and has had some amazing results. After doing the last rally I thought i wouldn't do another but, on that rally, it really brought home just what a fantastic event this is and what a difference it makes. Shitbox has raised over 37 million dollars which is a great achievement. Anyway, we have put nearly 50 grand towards this amount that I'm proud of. Also really looking forward to Toni being a part of this and getting to experience the dust and a week in a swag. Thanks again J

Hey Kel thanks so much for your donation. After doing a stack of these it gets harder and harder to ask for money from friends and family. The one thing that makes it easier is that I know for a fact that the money raised goes towards some grants that over the years have made a real difference and after watching friends and family deal with cancer and some not making it I feel in some way we are helping. We have raised nearly $50,000 and Shitbox overall $37,000,000 so a stack of money for a great cause. None of that though would be possible without donations so again thanks. We must catch up soon Cheers J

Hey Mands, Thanks for the donation. I told the buddy group I was in with the last rally that I wouldn't do another one unless it was going to Perth and low and behold the next one was Adelaide to Perth. Should be an easy one up the ondatta track and then a quick trip to Perth via Uluru. Hopefully the old girl makes it and I'm not talking about the Hilux I'm talking about Toni in the dust sleeping in a swag for a week 😀 Thanks again see you in April

Hi Steve, Thanks, mate, for donating once again. None of that though would be possible without donations. This one is a long one from Adelaide, up the Ondatta track to Perth via Uluru. I have some concerns that the old girl might not make it. I'm obviously not talking about the Hilux that should be fine. A week in the dust and sleeping in a swag for Toni though might be a stretch. Thanks again Mate Cheers J

Hi Deb, Thanks so much for your donation, after doing a few of these rallies it is getting harder and harder to raise funds. After the last one though when I said I would not do another rally I was really inspired by just how well the money is allocated and by some of the results. It's fun and seeing parts of Aus that you would most likely never get to see is really interesting too. However, you still need to raise $5000.00 to get there for Cancer Council and then on top of that we pay, entrance fees, catering / camping fees, fuel, and then getting back home so it's expensive but well worth it.I do have some concerns about if the old girl will make it through. Not the car that should be fine but taking my wife this time and thinking it might be a stretch after a bit over a week in the dust and sleeping in a swag but we will see I guess 😀Thanks, again Deb we really appreciate your donation you're an absolute legend. Cheers J

Hi Tim, Thanks, Tim for your donation its much appreciated. This is our fourth rally I said I would never do another one after the third, but I have had two friends recently diagnosed with cancer and my nephew who is twelve looks like he won't make it. The money raised towards these rallies really makes a difference although getting harder to raise money every time it's great that we have businesses like yours that can help out. Cheers James

The Impact, Outcomes & Charity

Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.

Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.

Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.

$41 million over the past 13 years has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:

  • A research study to develop a vaccine that protects against lymphoma cancers.
  • A research trial to standardise international guidelines on melanoma removal.
  • A research grant to revolutionise the treatment of pancreatic cancer.

These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
