Our Story …

G’Day Friends!!

We are really pleased to announce that after 5 years of waiting , Team TED is officially enlisted in Shitbox Rally Autumn 2024! This year, all the teams are driving their shitboxes from Adelaide to Perth via the stunning red centre, Yulara.

Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for Cancer Council in Australia and is now in its 14th year. Part of the participation is that all teams have to raise a minimum of $5,000 but most teams raise well above this amount as you can see with the Autumn 2024 rally target set at $2,000,000 plus.

These funds go to Cancer Council and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity. The fundraising is the hard part, so any donation you can give is greatly appreciated.

Please make sure to follow our progress via this page and the blog post below.

Here's what I'm doing …

Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,500, on a 7 day drive across Australia to raise money for cancer research.

The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.

Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.

Gday All!

Both Craig and Dan are finally leaving our respective towns of Perth and Broome, and are completely stoked to be heading to RADelaide to begin our first ever Shitbox Rally in the Team TED Camry! Wooohoooo!!!!

This journey has literally been 6 years in the making when I first bought TED on gumtree for $750 bucks! And also the private number plate for $300 …’tell him he’s dreamin’!’ Ha!

Well the dream is over and reality is rocking baby!

It hasn’t been all beer and skittles tho..we have had a few hurdles enroute..with weather and flooding being the main culprits.

However, those amazing Logisticians at Shitbox HQ have managed to reroute this epic adventure after the Great Central Road has remained flooded.

This has meant we had to load TED our trusty Shitbox earlier than expected and so we have a busy day in Adelaide tomorrow as we have to cover TED in green faux fur …ffs! 😛

..and this is assuming I arrive in Adelaide as my flight from Exmouth, WA (holidaying with the fam on the stunning Ningaloo Reef) has been cancelled and I have missed today’s connection from Perth to Adelaide. Ce La vie eh!?

Craig is flying from Perth as we speak and will hit the ground running.

Team Ted is fortunate to have Aussie radio guru Alex Flack (the missus cuzzie) to do some invaluable logistics tomorrow which will include picking up TED from the truck depot then get some ears installed on Ted’s head..(spotlights on the roof!) Thanks Alex!!

We also need to have a busy bee 🐝 and will give Ted a fur coat as he is completely starkers! See photos!

Team registration is tomorrow at 4pm then the Rally briefing at 6pm.

Shit’s gettin real!!

Lastly, we’d like to thank all those generous people who have so kindly donated their hard earned $$ and who have dug deep and contributed to the amazing cause of the Shitbox Rally which is to help those people affected by that blood scourge that is cancer.

The Cancer Council’s fabulous work to help make those living with cancer a whole lot better needs lots of $$$… cos there are a lot of people affected by cancer. I can tell you from personal experiences that by the time you get to my age, you will all know someone whose life has been affected by cancer! Sad fact eh?!

My beautiful mum Kathleen sadly passed away at 71 and Craig’s dad a tower of a man, a Firefighter Captain , sadly all too soon and by cancer.

But it’s a beautiful thing when The Cancer Council can come to someone’s aid by offering services like respite care, volunteer transport, financial counselling and research to name a few of the wonderful things they do.

So, please follow Dan and Craig’s Team TED journey over the next couple of weeks for what is undoubtedly going to be a Shitbox adventure of a life time!

We look forward to keeping you all regularly updated and will start a FB and Insta page very soon! I promise!

Getcha motor runnin’!!! 🎶 🧸 🚗

Dan & Craig ❤️

The Impact, Outcomes & Charity

Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.

Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.

Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.

$41 million over the past 13 years has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:

 • A research study to develop a vaccine that protects against lymphoma cancers.
 • A research trial to standardise international guidelines on melanoma removal.
 • A research grant to revolutionise the treatment of pancreatic cancer.

These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
