We are so proud to be doing our 5th SHITBOX RALLY in March 2024!

...our trusty "Baghdad Cab" is back for SHITBOX 2024 for what we feel will be the best SHITBOX RALLY YET - ADELAIDE to PERTH Via YULARA
After all that, we're still a couple of great mates Brent from Avalon on Sydney's Northern Beaches and myself now from Armidale in New England.
Our team is named "BAGHDAD CAB", as we will again be driving our trusty 44 year old 1979 Mercedes (W123) 300D, a car used as a taxi throughout much of Europe, Africa and the Middle East, still to this day! We are proud to be usually the ONLY diesel car in the rally and the OLDEST car!
We found our gold Mercedes on Gumtree sitting in a paddock on a 55,000 acre goat farm in Bourke! We paid $800 for her! Since then we have spent many, many hours cutting, welding, painting, rebuilding, wiring and reassembling our mighty machine! Check out our pictures!
All Shitboxs' must be 2WD and have cost less than $1,500.
In late March, we'll depart from Adelaide and be driving north across the dry and red dusty dirt roads of central outback SA north into NT and then heading west through the mighty Gibson Desert for a huge adventure crossing WA before ending our 3,800km trip in Perth all in 8 days!
The Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for the Cancer Council in Australia and is now in its 14th year having raised over $41 million. Part of each teams participation is that they each raise a minimum of $5,000 with most teams raising well above this, with an overall target for each rally set at $2,500,000.
These vitally important funds go to The Cancer Council and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity. Please make sure to follow our progress via this page and the blog post below.

Here's what I'm doing …
Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,500, on a 7 day drive across Australia to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.

The Impact, Outcomes & Charity
Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.
Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.
Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.
$41 million over the past 13 years has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:
- A research study to develop a vaccine that protects against lymphoma cancers.
- A research trial to standardise international guidelines on melanoma removal.
- A research grant to revolutionise the treatment of pancreatic cancer.
These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
